SUKKI
SUKKI (known also as Sukki Singapora, or Sukki Menon) is a writer/director, actor and humanitarian. Born to an Indian Singaporean father and English mother, she is best known for the award winning short film, I See Her, and for starring in the Netflix Originals Docu-series, Singapore Social. The show is the first docu-series featuring an all-Asian cast set in Asia for global release and has been praised for celebrating diversity of Asians on screen.
She was cast for the show after gaining international recognition for being the first professional Burlesque Artist from Singapore, and for campaigning for burlesque to be accepted as a legitimate, publicly legal art form in Singapore and winning in 2015. Her previous film and television accolades have included award-winning LatexFashionTV and Nights Of Burlesque, which was shown at the Portobello Film Festival in 2013.
Her work as an artist and activist for women, and autonomy over their bodies and choices, has delivered her a Generation T Award, a nomination and shortlist for The Asian Women of Achievement Awards, Women of the Future Awards, and a United Nations Women's HeForShe Impact Awards.
